5 AI Certifications for Your Resume: Direct Links and What Each One Actually Costs

Two of these certifications are free, three are not. Here is the official link, the real duration and the exact cost of each one, verified on 14 August 2026.

An AI certification on a LinkedIn profile takes thirty seconds to read, and it answers the only question a recruiter has: does this person know how to work with 2026 tools.

One thing is worth settling upfront: the course and the exam are two separate things. A free learning path does not always come with a free certificate. Of the five certifications below, two are genuinely free end to end, and three ask for your card at the moment you validate.

Everything here was verified on 14 August 2026 on the official pages of all five providers.

Each section gives you the direct link, the stated duration, the exact price and what the certification actually proves. They are ordered by return on effort, not by prestige.

The two that are genuinely free

1

HubSpot Digital Marketing

🔗 academy.hubspot.com

Free, certificate included. Three hours twenty-four minutes of video, ten lessons, eight quizzes, one final exam.

It covers content marketing, email, lead generation, SEO, social media and reporting. It is the most general of the five, and the only one that speaks directly about business growth rather than technology.

Its real value is not the badge, it is the vocabulary. After three hours you can name every stage of an acquisition funnel, which changes how you write your resume and how you answer in interviews.

Who it is for
Any marketing, growth or content profile. Take this one first if you only take one.

The course and exam are here: academy.hubspot.com/courses/digital-marketing. The certificate goes onto your LinkedIn profile in two clicks from the results page.

2

Career Essentials in Generative AI, by Microsoft and LinkedIn

🔗 linkedin.com/learning

Free, with no LinkedIn Learning subscription. That is the part that matters: almost all of LinkedIn's AI catalogue sits behind the subscription, and this specific path does not.

Four hours eighteen minutes across five courses, plus a final exam. The program covers generative AI fundamentals, the major models, content creation, ethics and Microsoft 365 Copilot.

The credential is called the Career Essentials Certificate by Microsoft and LinkedIn. You download it and add it to your profile yourself, it does not appear automatically.

Worth knowing
The path is being updated on 1 October 2026. Finish it before that date to get your certificate without interruption.

The path is here: Career Essentials in Generative AI. You need to be signed in to LinkedIn for the page to open, otherwise you land on the login screen.

The three that cost money

3

Google AI Essentials

🔗 coursera.org

This is no longer a single course but a five-course specialization, with a stated total of under ten hours.

The content is available through free audit. The certificate is not: it costs $49 per month after a seven-day free trial, on the standard Coursera subscription model. Financial aid exists and is requested directly on the page.

In practice, if you finish all five courses during the seven-day trial and then cancel, you get the certificate without paying. Ten hours of content in a week is doable if you block two evenings.

The program covers an introduction to AI, productivity with generative tools, prompting, responsible AI and staying current.

The catch
Free audit gives you the content but not the certificate. If the badge is what you want, you go through the paid route.

The specialization is here: coursera.org/specializations/ai-essentials-google.

4

GitHub Foundations

🔗 learn.microsoft.com

$99. The exam runs one hundred minutes through Pearson VUE, either at a test center or proctored online.

A free route exists, but it is reserved for students verified through GitHub Education, and the current voucher batch has been exhausted since 30 June 2026. If you are not a student with a verified institutional address, treat the price as $99.

The program covers Git and GitHub basics, repositories, collaboration, project management, privacy and security. This is a developer credential: on a marketing resume it carries less weight than the other four.

Worth knowing
The certificate expires after 24 months. It is the only one on this list with an expiry date.

Details and registration are here: GitHub Foundations.

5

Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals

🔗 learn.microsoft.com

$99 for the exam. The preparation path on Microsoft Learn is free, the exam is not, and that is the most common mix-up on this certification.

The exam code has changed: it is now AI-901, the previous version having been retired on 30 June 2026. Check the code carefully when you book.

Since its 15 April 2026 update, it explicitly expects knowledge of Python syntax, REST APIs, SDKs and CLIs. Between 55 and 60 percent of the exam covers implementation in Microsoft Foundry. Passing score: 700.

Real difficulty
Despite the word Fundamentals, this is the most demanding of the five. Do not use it as your starting point.

The certification page is here: Azure AI Fundamentals, and the exam detail here: AI-901.

The real budget

$0
HubSpot + Career Essentials
$247
all five, full price
7h 42m
the two free ones

Add it up: $0 for HubSpot, $0 for Career Essentials, $49 minimum for Google, $99 for GitHub, $99 for Microsoft. That is $247 at full price, and $198 if you earn the Google certificate during the free trial.

No combination brings all five down to zero.

The order to run them in

Start with the two free ones, in the order of the table of contents. Seven hours forty-two minutes total, one weekend, no money, and two credentials sitting on your profile by Monday.

Only then look at whether the paid ones are worth it for you. The test is simple: GitHub Foundations if you are aiming at a technical role, Azure AI Fundamentals if you are aiming at a large company running on Azure, Google AI Essentials if you want the Google name on your profile and you can hold the seven-day pace.

The only advice that matters
A certification does not get you hired. It gets you through the filter. What gets you hired is what you show next, so follow each certification with a concrete project you can talk through in an interview.
