Hypit: clone any viral video with Claude Code

Give Claude Code a reel that already works, and it rebuilds the whole video: captions, B-roll, effects, all synced to the words. Swap the hook, the product or the language, and ship dozens of variants. The setup, the prompts and what the license allows.

A reel that already took off in your niche is the best brief you'll ever get: the hook held, the pacing kept people to the end. Rebuilding it by hand for your product takes a full day of editing. Hypit is an open source skill that lets Claude Code rebuild the whole video from the file, then turn it into as many variants as you want.

You drop in a video, and your agent pulls out the full workflow: the shots, the captions, the B-roll and the effects, all synced to the words instead of the seconds. Change a line, and the timing follows on its own. Here's how to install it, the prompts to use it, and what you're allowed to do with it.

✅What you need
1
Claude Code, or Codex. Hypit installs as a skill in your agent.
2
Node.js, for the npx install command.
3
The video to clone, as a file (an .mp4 on your computer).
4
A model service, only if you generate images, voices or avatars. Captions, animations and code-rendered visuals don't need one.

What Hypit does

🔗 github.com/hypit-ai/hypit
🎬A video becomes a reusable template
5
It gives your agent a video language. Hypit writes the video as a source file Claude Code can read and edit, then compiles it into a finished video.
6
It clones the full workflow, not a script summary. Shots, captions, B-roll, effects: everything that makes the original video's pacing.
7
Everything is synced to the words. Rewrite a line, switch languages, and the timing re-flows to the new voice on its own.
8
Every piece swaps out without touching the rest. Change the person on screen without redoing the captions, or the hook without touching the body of the video.
No reference video needed
Cloning is the fastest way in, not the only one. You can start from a provided template, or describe the video you want and let the agent write the workflow from scratch.

Install the skill

💻 Terminal
📦One command, once
9
Run the command below. It installs the Hypit skill for all your projects.
10
Open Claude Code in your video project folder, empty or existing. On first use, the agent checks that the Hypit executable is there and helps you set it up if needed.
npx skills add hypit-ai/hypit -g

Clone and repurpose a video

✂️ the /hypit command in Claude Code
1️⃣Clone a video for your product
11
Give it the file path and what should change. The agent checks its environment, asks for the credentials the video needs, generates the material and assembles the final version.
/hypit Clone this video: [PATH/TO/VIDEO.mp4]. Keep the structure, the pacing and the caption style. Replace the subject with [YOUR PRODUCT] (website: [YOUR WEBSITE]) and rewrite the script for [YOUR AUDIENCE].
2️⃣Ship hook variants
12
Keep the body, change only the opening. It's the move that matters most in advertising: a hook wears out in a few weeks, the rest of the video holds.
/hypit Reuse this video's composition and create [10] variants with different hooks. Change nothing else.
3️⃣Translate without re-editing
13
One more language, no new shoot. The timing re-syncs to the new script.
/hypit Make the same video in [SPANISH AND ARABIC]. Keep the layout and the caption style.
4️⃣Start from scratch
14
No reference video? Describe the format, and the agent writes the workflow.
/hypit Make a 30-second vertical video that presents [YOUR OFFER] in three benefits, with word-by-word captions and a call to action at the end.

What it changes for your acquisition

📈 ads, store, languages
📣
Meta and TikTok ads
Start from an ad that's been running for weeks in the Meta Ad Library, swap in your product, ship dozens of hooks the same day. When it wears out, re-run it with fresh openings.
🛒
Store and affiliate videos
One format that converts, a new product every day: swap the product, the price and the call to action, and the structure that worked stays put.
🎙️
UGC and talking heads
Voiceover, word-by-word captions, B-roll, beat-synced cuts: all wired automatically.
🌍
One version per market
The same video in several languages for every country you sell in, without re-editing.
Clone the structure, not the content
Keep what makes a video work (the shot order, the pacing, the caption format) and replace everything else with your product, your footage and your voice. Reposting another creator's footage or voice raises a rights problem, with or without Hypit.

Costs, license and limits

⚖️ read before you use it
💰What it costs
15
Hypit is free. No per-seat pricing, no per-render fees, no added watermark.
16
You pay for the models you plug in. Your agent has its own subscription, and each generation service (images, voices, avatars) bills its own usage. You can also plug in your own API or a local model.
17
Some videos cost nothing extra. Captions, animations and code-rendered visuals compile locally, with no call to a generation model.
📄What the license allows
18
Commercial use is allowed for your business, including the work you do for your clients. The videos you make belong to you.
19
Not allowed without written permission: reselling Hypit, or hosting it as a service for several clients. The Hypit name and logo stay in the tool and its reports.
A custom license
Hypit isn't under a standard open source license: it's an Apache 2.0 license modified by the publisher. Read it if you plan to build a service around it.

Where to start

Pick a single video, the one that performed best in your niche over the last three months. Clone it for your product, post it, and watch how long people stay. If it holds, move on to hook variants: that's where the time you saved turns into extra reach. Editing stops being the bottleneck, and picking the right starting video becomes the job.
