AI tore down the capital barrier. Going solo became an advantage.

I run four activities in parallel: marketing at Ignyte in the DIFC, my SaaS Namedrop, my freelance clients, my Instagram content. Before AI, that took a team. Today it fits on under $50/month of tools, because free tiers have gotten ridiculous.

50K free users on Supabase. 100GB of bandwidth on Vercel. 3K emails on Resend. The platforms let you grow before you pay. You upgrade the plan the day it takes off, never the stack.

The goal isn't to install everything tomorrow morning. Spot the block you're missing: you're building (BUILD), shipping (SHIP), or running on a loop (OPERATE). Pick one tool per block, put it to work on a real project, and move to the next.

The real barrier

VS Code + Claude Code CLI — Free. The editor sitting on my machine. Claude Code runs in the integrated terminal, so I never leave the IDE to talk to it.

Supabase — Free · 50K users. Backend, auth, Postgres database, storage. All in one, free tier up to 50K active users. You pay the day you take off.

Vercel — Free · 100GB. You push to GitHub, your product is live in 30 seconds on a global CDN. 100GB of bandwidth included per month. That's massive.

GitHub — Free. Versioning and CI. Every change is saved, every deployment is traceable. Public or private, unlimited, free for personal accounts.

Namecheap — $11/year. A real .com domain for under a dollar a month. No reason to squat a Vercel subdomain when you're shipping for real.

Stripe — % per tx. You take payments in 135+ currencies on launch day. No fixed subscription, just a percentage per transaction. Set up in an afternoon.

Resend — Free · 3K emails. Transactional emails (welcome, reset, confirmation). 3,000 free sends per month, 5-line integration, serious deliverability.

Hostinger VPS — $5/month. A Linux machine of your own. I host n8n, my Telegram bots, my crons there, without depending on anyone's free tier. Ubuntu 24.04, 4GB RAM, that's enough.

Self-hosted n8n — Free (on the VPS). My personal n8n runs 50+ workflows: ad alerts, competitor scraping, content automations, Apify/Notion/Asana integrations. Zero variable cost.

Notion — Free personal. Workspace, knowledge base, project tracking. The direct API lets me wire Claude Code to my Notion pages without going through the MCP.

Perplexity Pro — $20/month (optional). Deep research, competitor comparisons, sourced briefs. The only AI subscription on top of Claude I actively keep, because it really fact-checks.

To keep this stack at $50, not $500

Free tier first, paid when it takes off. Every tool here has a serious free tier, not a 7-day teaser. You pay for the higher plan the day your product justifies it, not before. If a tool forces you to pull out the card before you have a signal of traction, replace it.

Self-host everything that runs on a loop. Workflows, crons, bots, n8n: on a $5 VPS, not on a $50-per-tool SaaS. Once you have a VPS, the marginal cost of adding a new service is zero. It's the most underrated multiplier in the solo stack.

One tool per function, never two. No Vercel plus Netlify, no Resend plus Loops, no Notion plus Linear for the same thing. Every duplicate is another 20$/mois and one more point of mental friction. You pick, you stick.
The bonus rule

If a tool doesn't save you at least an hour a week, uninstall it. The attention cost is always higher than the price of the plan.
